Toilets pick up yellow staining and a musty smell fast, mostly because a thin film of bacteria and mineral residue builds up inside the bowl and under the rim — a layer that regular scrubbing only partly reaches. A clever, low-effort trick keeps a small dose of cleaner flowing in with every flush.
The bottle method
Choose a small plastic bottle — 500 ml to 1 liter — that will fit inside your toilet tank.
Fill it to the top with a scented floor cleaner you like.
Poke a small hole near the bottom with a nail or heated needle, just big enough to let liquid seep out slowly.
Submerge it hole-down in the tank.
